Yesterday I met up with a good friend of mine. I could feel something was off with him. He is feeling particularly low and underwater at the moment. He is been secretly dealing with anxiety for way too long. He is at a point where he can’t get anything done. On top of this, he is completely addicted to his phone, social media, and any online distraction, really. Basically, his mind is working 24/7 and he doesn’t give himself a minute to breathe and reflect as he escapes every few minutes to meaningless videos and images. I decided to introduce him to the wonders of mediation.
As he walked out of my apartment, late a night, I made myself a cup of tea. During the process, some nervousness started growing in me. I am not in a much better place than he is. And I don’t think any of us, living in this crazy time is. As I went to bed, decided to play an album with headphones and close my eyes. Suddenly, lots of impressions that I experienced in the last weeks that somehow had an impact on me, were presented during this course of the album. Without judging these impressions, I simply processed them calmly.
I woke up like a new person today.
